He quickly established himself as a standout batsman as he played for teams like Free State, Knights, and the Northerns. However, his breakthrough performance came in 2018-19 when he played in the CSA Provincial One-Day Challenge, and managed to top the run charts with an impressive score of 593 runs and 9 innings.
In 2019, he signed a two-year Kolkpark deal with Derbyshire in England, wherein he made use of his Hungarian passport to play as a non-overseas player. His debut season was quite successful, by the year 2022, he was named Derbyshire’s captain, succeeding captain Billy Godleman, and in 2023, he went on to be the second-highest run-scorer in County Championship Division Two, with an average score of 1236 runs.

Leus Du Plooy IPL Stats
Despite the fact that he has found success in domestic and franchise cricket, Jacobus Leus Du Plooy has not yet featured in the Indian Premier League, and his absence from the franchise is quite notable despite his consistency and impressive performances in other T20 leagues. His performance in SA20, PSL, and the Hundred showcases that he is quite the talented and promising player, and the IPL’s competitive auction system that gives preference to high-profile international stars certainly missed a spot for someone as talented as him. However, this has not left him deviated; in fact, he is determined to break into major international sides, and his impressive skillset would make him quite a strong candidate for future IPL auctions.
